Summer 2005 - I attended the "True Colors" workshop weekend at The ARTbar in Santa Ana, California. Working with multimedia artists Lisa Renner, Lynne Perrella (below, at right), Lisa Hoffman and others was a truly magnificent experience; learning new techniques and getting to know other altered book artists. Fall 2005 - As a result of the above weekend, the 13 Journals round-robin group was formed. That Sept. I enrolled in watercolor classes at my local community college. This has proved to be wonderful fun - a real boost for my travel journals. Spring 2006 - MY work was shown in a solo exhibit at the San Luis Obispo City County Library and in a group exhibit at Cuesta College. I also attended two workshops with nationally respected art journalist Kelly Kilmer. Fall 2006 - Margot and I spent the month of September in England for the trip of a life time. The photos I took, journals I kept, paintings I did and ephemera I gathered will fuel my creativity for years to come! Spring 2007 - Found me in beautiful Port Townsend, Washington for ArtFest. This annual event, organized by Teesha and Tracy Moore, plays host to over 500 artists, world renowned teachers and art enthusiasts. I was fortunate for the chance to study with mixed media artists Lynne Perrella, L.K. Ludwig and Pam Sussman. That summer was the first public showing of my assemblage art; "A Smattering of Knowledge" was an award-winning entry at the Cambria Allied Arts 927 Show of Alternative Art. Fall 2007 - Included Art and Soul-Portland where I studied with Angela Cartwright, Sas Colby, Diane Downs and Julianna Coles. In November "Frida's Truck- The Quest for Kahlo" with Lynne Perrella at Carol Parks' NOHO studio was a three day delight of colour, techniques and friends. Spring 2008 - Up to British Columbia (to spend a weekend in the snow) working with Nick Bantock (below) - of "Griffin and Sabine" fame - in his wonderful Salt Spring Island Studio off the coast of Vancouver Island. And a second year at Art Fest for classes with Pam Sussman, Melissa Manley and again the incomparable Lynne Perrella. Summer 2008 - My second award-winning year at Cambria Allied Arts 927 Show, and a fun class at the International Quilt Show in Long Beach - "Graffiti Canvas" with the irrepressible Traci Bautisita.
Fall 2008 - A fun afternoon class doing Linoleum Printing, using old credit card imprinters. Taught by Marsha Shaw from the San Francisco Center for the Book.
Upcoming - Lynne Perrella and Anne Bagby - "Southwest Passage -- Myth Making & Mixed Media" next February at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House in Taos, New Mexico.
